Nanotechnology is an exciting new field that is bringing many promising advances to medicine and neurology. NSCFF is at the forefront of exploring the applications to translate the research into practice. We are supporting the research efforts of world renowned experts like Dr. Sakharat Khizroev to work with electromagnetic nanoparticles that can be externally controlled by a magnetic field to noninvasively target specific areas of the brain. This potentially represents a major advancement in the treatment of Parkinson’s disease and other movement disorders by noninvasively stimulating targeted regions of the brain. The technology has been shown to be capable of delivering drugs across the blood brain barrier applicable to many neurological conditions. This nanotechnology may allow for the creation of the first 3-D electrical map of the brain, leading to a new understanding of the root cause and treatment of these degenerative diseases.
